Hello MITA MS 8th Grade Families,

We look forward to celebrating your student’s achievement and milestone at their Promotion Ceremony on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the GTA Gymnasium at the corner of Mini Drive and Corcoran Avenue.

Due to limited space, each student will be given 5 tickets. We will be coordinating with families who do need all five tickets and redistributing them. We are livestreaming the event and will be opening the MPR as overflow space. Some of you might prefer the flexibility of movement in the MPR instead of the packed gym.

Please read the Semester 2 expectations for 8th graders to participate in the Promotion Ceremony that is attached as a pdf. It is important for all of us to understand the following criteria:

• Academic: A student shall maintain above a “C” average, 2.0,  grade point average, and have no more than 1 “F” grade.

• Behavior: Five or fewer days of suspension with no single incident that warrants a 5-day suspension.

We loved the outdoor ceremony we had at the school. This year presents an opportunity for all GTA schools to have promotion and graduation ceremonies at our new gym. We appreciate you saving the date, Monday, June 8, 2026, on your calendar. We will be sending out more information as we continue with our planning effort.
