Support Staff

Miriam Staff

My name is Miriam Ascencio. I have worn many hats in the 16 years I’ve been working at Mare Island Technology Academy. I’ve been the receptionist, High School Teacher, Substitute teacher, Parent Volunteer Coordinator, and for the past 10 years I’ve been the Office Supervisor for the MIT and MITA offices. I’m also an MIT parent, I have a son that graduated from MIT Academy and my daughter is currently part of the 2024 Senior class.  I am a strong believer in the vision and mission of Mare Island Technology Academy Charter Schools and know our school is a great place for students to thrive to their full potential.

Judith Staff

My name is Judith Mejia Arevalos. I am a staff member and a former alumni; I graduated in 2012. Initially I was hired as a learning lab facilitator, currently I am the receptionist at the main office. One thing I really like about M.I.T is that we have the best instructors. I keep in touch with most of the teachers I had when I was a student and most of my teachers left a positive impression in my life.

Staff Pam

Hello. My name is Pamela Haley-Irvin.  I was born in Pineland, Texas. I am a mother of three unique, outgoing, and wonderful human beings that I’m Hippopotamus Happy Peacock Proud of.

I am a neutral leader with a fruitful track record in nurturing care. I have always had a passion for working with children. There’s something truly special about being able to make a positive impact on a young person’s life. Whether it’s watching them learn and grow, helping them overcome challenges, or simply being a listening ear when they need someone to talk to. Working with kids bring me so much joy. One of the things I love mist about working with kids is their boundless energy and curiosity. They are constantly asking questions, exploring their surroundings, and seeking out new experiences. Being around that kind of enthusiasm is infectious and keeps me feeling young at heart. But what I think I enjoy most about working with kids is the opportunity to be a role model and help shape their values and beliefs. Using my influence, I have a responsibility to help the next generation become compassionate, empathetic, and kind human beings. It’s a privilege to be able to play a small part in their journey and watch them grow into amazing individuals.

Working with kids can be challenging at times, but the rewards far outweigh the difficulties. Seeing a child’s face light up when they understand something new, or receiving a hug from a child who just wants to show gratitude, makes every moment worth it. In short, working with kids is a joy, a privilege, and a responsibility that I take seriously. I feel grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference at Mare Island Technology Academy. I treasure all the kids here and my treasure is where my heart is.
