Mare Island Technology Academy Middle School offers a tech-based, college-preparatory educational experience to prepare students for success at MIT Academy High School. To graduate with a high school diploma from MIT Academy, students must complete at least 9 units of college credits in addition to graduation requirements set by GTA that meet or exceed the state minimum. Hence, college readiness begins at middle school. The instructional day is focused on academics. Students may choose to participate in the After School Program for the arts and other enrichment activities.

“Math Literacy and economic access are how we are going to give hope to the young generation.” – Bob Moses and Charles Cobb
At Mare Island Technology Academy Middle School, we believe that students can achieve high levels of success in mathematics. Mathematics serves as a launchpad rather than a gatekeeper to college and the STEM industry. Therefore, sixth graders receive math support in addition to their core math class. Sixth graders who demonstrate readiness using multiple data points take two periods of mathematics in seventh grade to adequately prepare to study 9th grade math standards in the 8th grade.
Students take a technology class every year at Mare Island Technology Academy Middle School. Tech 1 (6th grade), Tech 2 (7th Grade), and Tech 3 (8th grade) provide students with knowledge and skills in applied technology literacy, programming, digital media, and digital citizenship. Lessons are drawn from Google Workspace, Skill Struck, Amazon Stem Project, and Common Sense Media.
