MIT MS: Free Dress Day [Friday, 12/12/25]

Posted Date: 12/11/25 (03:50 PM)

Hello MIT Middle School Students and Families,

We appreciate the work of student leaders in culture a fun and inclusive environment for all. In recognition of their leadership and commitment to the school, we are honoring their request to have a Free Dress Day tomorrow since the dance starts an hour after school. Also, congratulations to Ms. Miriam Ascencio! She was chosen by her colleagues as the November MIT Middle Employee of the Month and fully supports a Free Dress Day. She stated the behavior of the students had been great when we had been short-staffed these past few days.

Remember that Free Dress Day requires more effort and care than donning dress code attire. We cannot dictate every type of clothing article. Please use common sense to show respect for the learning environment as well as adhere to the guidelines below.

Free Dress Day Guidelines

1. Free Dress Day is not a Pajama Day. No pj bottoms or pj onesie.

2. Shoes must be worn at all times and suitable (e.g. sneakers). No Crocs, slip-ons, or sandals.

3. Clothing, jewelry and personal items shall be free of writing, pictures or any other insignia which are crude, vulgar, profane or sexually suggestive, which bear drug, alcohol or tobacco company advertising, promotions and likenesses, or which advocates racial, ethnic or religious prejudice.

4. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all times. See-through or fish-net fabrics, halter tops, off-the-shoulder or low-cut tops, bare midriffs and skirts or shorts with hemlines above the fingertips of a natural arm hang are prohibited.

We apologize for the late notice. We do our best to be responsive to student advocacy. Dance tickets will be available tomorrow at lunch. Thank you for making MIT MS your school of choice!

Kind Regards,
