Dress code guidelines:
Whether in dress code or free dress, MITA requires a dress code to promote discipline, safety, and a sense of school identity. Moreover, MITA does not allow any clothing, haircuts, jewelry, etc. that: Threatens the health or safety of others Prohibits full participation in the educational program Distracts and keeps students from learning May indicate gang membership or association Advocates alcohol, illegal drug use or paraphernalia associated with illegal drugs Encourages prejudice against others on the grounds of national origin, ancestry, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability Leads to disciplinary problems at school or at school-related activities Is, in general, deemed inappropriate or distracting to the learning environment.
